FLL Policy

Inclement Weather Policy

The FLL Iowa State Championship and related events will only be canceled or delayed due to causes and conditions beyond the tournament organizers’ control, including, but not limited to, Acts of Nature, pandemics, government restrictions, significant number of teams having to cancel due to illness and/or any other cause beyond the tournament organizers’ control. In the event of inclement weather, the tournament will only be canceled if the included county and/or surrounding counties have declared a weather emergency including but not limited to tow bans, lack of emergency response crews, closed roadways, or travel not advised warnings. Please refer to local news, Iowa DOT website and radio for current county advisories. If the championship event or related events must be canceled, it will be at the discretion of the Iowa FLL Director on whether these events will be rescheduled.

If a tournament has to be canceled before the tournament day begins, teams will be notified by an email sent to the registered FLL coach email address. If the tournament has to be canceled the day of the event, the organizers will do their best to do so early and will contact teams via the registered FLL coach email address, at minimum.

Obviously a decision to cancel an event is not undertaken lightly and if a team feels that conditions will not permit their safe arrival at an event, they should use their own judgment as to whether or not they should attend.

Allergy Policy

At all Iowa FLL and FLL Jr. events, it is up to the parents/coaches to make sure that the youth team members stay safe and avoid the foods which they are allergic.  Parents and coaches need to have the appropriate medications with them in case of a severe allergic reaction.  Events are held in public spaces and often there are various snacks and food on the premises.  Please let your organizer know prior to the event date about special needs or accommodations, and we will work to find a reasonable solution.
