Commonly asked questions
Do I have to help for the entire day?
We strongly encourage volunteers to help for the entire day, as most volunteer positions need an all-day commitment.

Do I have to help both days?
We would really, really appreciate if you could volunteer both days. You will get 2 T-shirts, twice as much pizza and pop, and you will have double the fun!

It is November or December and I have not heard about my volunteer assignment, did you get my registration?
Yes, if you followed the instructions here, we got your volunteer registration. We will assign all volunteer positions during the first week of January and notify you then.

I heard we have to do volunteer training, when is that?
Many volunteer roles will receive training videos via email prior to the event that they can view whenever they have time. Some roles will do face-to-face training on the day of the event. When you find out your role, we’ll be sure to let you know how you’ll go through training.

What do I wear the day of the event?
We suggest nice jeans, tennis shoes and we will provide you with a volunteer t-shirt. You will be doing a lot of moving during the day, so we want you to be comfortable. But remember, you are representing Iowa State University and yourself. Remember, many parents are recruiters for their companies, so put your best foot forward.

I am sick the day of the event. Should I still come because I said I would volunteer?
No, we do not want to get everyone else sick. Please email us at fll@iastate.edu to let us know you will not be making it. You will need to be at the top of your game to keep up with these kids. So, please, if you are sick, stay home and rest!
