Inclement Weather Policy

The Iowa FLL State Championship and related events will only be canceled or delayed due to causes and conditions beyond the event organizers’ control, including, but not limited to, Acts of Nature, pandemics, government restrictions, significant number of teams having to cancel due to illness and/or any other cause beyond the event organizers’ control. In the event of inclement weather, the event will only be canceled if the included county and/or surrounding counties have declared a weather emergency including but not limited to tow bans, lack of emergency response crews, closed roadways, or travel not advised warnings. Please refer to local news, Iowa DOT website and radio for current county advisories. If the championship event or related events must be canceled, it will be at the discretion of the Iowa FLL Director on whether these events will be rescheduled.

If an event has to be canceled before the event day begins, teams will be notified by an email sent to the registered FLL Jr. coach email address. If the event has to be canceled the day of the event, the organizers will do their best to do so early and will contact teams via the registered FLL Jr. coach email address, at minimum.

Obviously a decision to cancel an event is not undertaken lightly and if a team feels that conditions will not permit their safe arrival at an event, they should use their own judgment as to whether or not they should attend.
