Accepted Now – Jr.FLL John Deere FIRST Team Grant Applications

John Deere FIRST Team Grant applications for Junior FIRST LEGO League (Jr.FLL) are now available! Application deadline is February 21, 2014, or until funding is depleted. Teams are encouraged to apply early. Jr.FLL teams can be comprised of up to six children ages 6-9 and can be made up of neighborhood groups, school groups, homeschool groups, Girls Scout/Boy Scout troops, 4-H clubs, family members, and after school programs.

Jr.FLL is a hands-on program focused on building children’s interest in science and engineering. The season features a real-world challenge, to be solved by research, critical thinking, and imagination. Guided by adult coaches and the Jr.FLL Core Values, teams get to design and build challenge solutions using LEGO elements, apply real-world math and science concepts, research challenges facing today’s scientists, and learn team building and presentation skills. Get ready to take this season by storm! The 2013-2014 challenge theme is Disaster Blaster.

We love stories about inventiveness, creativity, problem solving, and thinking outside the box.  “Kids” are anyone at any age – send us an e-mail at and tell us in 300 words or less who, why, and what they do that is engineering at its coolest.  We will select a new “kid” each month to be featured and recognized.  We will even send them a special congratulatory gift from ISU College of Engineering and give you one too, for recognizing their potential talent!
