FIRST Educator Summit

FIRST will be hosting an Educator Summit at each of the FIRST World Festival events this year. The intent of the Educator Summit event is to draw in Superintendents, Principals, STEM Educators and decisions makers whom may not have any exposure or have limited exposure to FIRST.  The hope is they leave this event excited and interested to bring FIRST to their school district and community.  For more information, please follow these links:

FIRST Team Funding Opportunity

Help grow teams in the United States!

Through a generous donation from NewsCorp in partnership with DonorsChoose.org, funding is available to help start or support a FIRST® team. Funding is available to any educator in a public or public charter school located in the United States, employed full time by the school or school district and works directly with students at least 75 percent of the time. Funding can be used for registration fees, materials, reasonable and customary FIRST team travel costs.

Tell the educators in your area to visit www.donorschoose.org/first to get started or contact Kristi Scarpone at kscarpone@firstinspires.org for details.

Put Her FIRST

FIRST made a really interesting video about females in STEM. They interviewed quite a few FLL team members and in the video there are even a few members from Iowa FLL team Flourish and Bots!

Iowa FLL Jr. Creature Craze Team Grants

FIRST LEGO League Junior (FLL Jr.) is a great way for children ages 6-10 to get involved in STEM, make friends, develop teamwork skills, and have fun! The 2016-17 Season is still underway and ISU College of Engineering is partnering with John Deere to provide grants to new and returning teams that qualify.

The flyer with all of the information and requirements about the grant can be found here.

If you want to know more about FLL Jr. you can find it here.

Note: one of the requirements for receiving the grant is attending a FLL Jr. event (which are called Expos); a listing of all of the FLL Jr. Expo events can be found here.
