Iowa FLL Jr. Creature Craze Team Grants

FIRST LEGO League Junior (FLL Jr.) is a great way for children ages 6-10 to get involved in STEM, make friends, develop teamwork skills, and have fun! The 2016-17 Season is still underway and ISU College of Engineering is partnering with John Deere to provide grants to new and returning teams that qualify.

FLL Jr. Expos

Although the FLL Animal Allies season is done, the Creature Craze FLL Jr. season is still underway!

3D Printer Contest with Great Prizes!

Edison Innovation Foundation invites you to join a Back to School Contest!

The Edison Foundation office recently installed a 3D printer and they are looking for designs to put it to work! Send a Design and a photo of a novel item that they can replicate in their new PT2X 3D Printer. The top three designs chosen by the board will win a prize.

There is no topic or theme, the design can range from a toy, to a household item, to a medical device.

Science Ambassador Scholarship

 

Applications are now open!

Science Ambassador Scholarship is a full-ride tuition scholarship for a woman seeking an undergraduate degree in science, engineering, technology, or math. Applications close December 11th, 2016 at midnight central time.

To apply, submit a three–minute video of yourself explaining a topic in science you are passionate about.

  • Deliver a mini lecture, not a personal statement, as if you are teaching or lecturing an audience.
  • Don’t spend lots of time introducing yourself—just jump right into your topic.
  • Your video should be three minutes, no longer.
  • You can discuss any topic in science you like, not necessarily your field of study.
  • Upload the video to YouTube, and make sure the video is set to public.

ASEE Essay/Video Contest

Prompt
The increasing demand for STEM graduates with skills to work and innovate in a global market demands a pipeline of talent from all walks of life. Describe a time in your life (via written response or video) where you organized or participated in an effort to encourage P12 students to go into a STEM field, specifically engineering. Be sure to discuss/show why you participated, what you did, and how the event impacted the students. The video should not be an advertisement for your organization’s outreach.

Prizes
Winners are selected by a group of reviewers from the ASEE Diversity Committee. Up to 3 awards will be given as prizes for the top submissions from all categories.

  • 1st Place: $275
  • 2nd Place: $150
  • 3rd Place: $70
