Project Lead the Way

This summer will be our final summer of PLTW core training at ISU. PLTW is moving away from having Iowa university affiliates. PLTW has determined it is a better business model to move away from the current relationship with the 58 national university affiliates and move to having 20 metropolitan training sites that will serve as hosts for core trainings that PLTW will collect fees for and manage. The PLTW staff will assist schools and put on regional conferences. Our agreement and partnership as an affiliate university will end following the July core training. We wanted you to have this information now in order for you and your district to plan accordingly for future support and training opportunities. Trainings are not planned on being offered within the state of Iowa moving forward beyond summer 2018. Our closest trainings for Iowa teachers as related to me by PLTW will be Madison, Wisconsin; Kansas City, Missouri; Minneapolis, Minnesota.

We will, however, continue to work with schools through our ongoing outreach efforts to be expert consult on research-based best practice for student STEM engagement, FIRST® programming, camps and engineering events, as well as continuing our efforts to connect education and industry through our newest program we are taking the lead on, Manufacturing Day in Iowa, which we will be collaborating with multiple statewide entities looking to partner schools with local industry for greater collaborations and increased exposure for students and schools to economic development opportunities in and around their communities.

Please let us know further questions at pltw@iastate.edu, or how we might further assist you in your STEM efforts.
